A current transformer (Curren tttransformer) is an instrument that measures a large primary current by converting it into a small secondary current based on the principle of electromagnetic induction.
A current transformer consists of a closed iron core and winding. Current transformers are divided into two categories: electromagnetic current transformers and electronic current transformers. Its primary winding has very few turns and is connected in series in the circuit where the current needs to be measured. The entire current of the line often flows through, and the secondary winding has a relatively large number of turns. It is connected in series between the measuring instrument and the protection circuit. When the current transformer is working, its secondary circuit is always closed, so the impedance of the measuring instrument and the protection circuit series coil is very small, and the working state of the current transformer is close to a short circuit. Its function is to expand the meter limit, measure the current; convert the rated current to a unified nominal value, which is conducive to the standardization of the connected meter; isolate the meter from the high potential of the measured line to ensure safety.
